Gavin Bazunu secures a loan move to Standard Liège

22-year-old Ireland keeper Gavin Bazunu has signed for Belgian Pro League side Standard Liège on loan from Southampton until the end of the season. The Ireland net minder recently returned from a long layoff following an achilles injury, impressively lining out for the Saints U21 side on a number of occasions.

As the former Shamrock Rovers man is not registered with Southampton for the Premier League this season he was left with no choice but to go out on loan to get first-team minutes. The Director of Football at the Belgian club is Donegal man Fergal Harkin who has previously worked with Gavin at Man City and he is believed to have been instrumental in getting this deal over the line.

Gavin will also be at the same club as Girls in Green’s Amber Barrett and Claire O’Riordan who play for Liège’s women’s team. ☘️
