What we learnt from Heimir and Caoimhín's press conference in Budapest today

The mood is right, the spirit is up

Thursday was such a revelation and fillup that we’re not feeling in the least bit embarrassed to reference a Christmas song, even though we’re only midway through November. That win over Portugal was such that it feels like we can take on the world again, rather than feeling the burden of years playing catchup.

Of course it won’t count for a jot unless the Boys in Green finish the job in Budapest tomorrow afternoon (2pm KO) by taking all three points off Hungary, and in the process taking this incredible World Cup qualifying odyssey into the spring of 2026.
